Area of Interest
Melissa brings with her years of experience caring for people with cancer in both the inpatient and outpatient setting, first as a staff nurse, then nurse navigator, and since 2014, nurse practitioner. During that time, she developed a passion for helping meet the unique needs of young adults whose lives have been interrupted by cancer; she continues to see patients in the Young Adult Cancer Survivorship Clinic.
More recently, Melissa has worked with Dr. Lisa Carey (Deputy Director of Clinical Sciences, UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center; Director, UNC Lineberger Center for Triple Negative Breast Cancer), and Dr. Genevieve Neal-Perry (Chair of UNC Obstetrics and Gynecology) to launch the Women’s Cancer Wellness clinic to support women experiencing menopausal symptoms and intimacy concerns related to their cancer treatment.
