Area of Interest

As a benign hematologist, my primary clinical and research interests are in the field of hemostasis and thrombosis. Included in this overall theme, I have had a longstanding interest in the mechanisms of cancer-associated thrombosis. My lab has worked with large sample repositories to determine whether circulating biomarkers that predict a high risk of cancer-associated venous thromboembolism (and/or point to novel pathophysiologic mechanisms) can be identified in blood. I have also participated in the ASCO Guidelines on Prevention and Treatment of Venous Thromboembolism in Cancer.
