UNC Lineberger PopSci Seminar: NC Cancer Health Assets and Needs Assessment (CHANA)
Join us for a special PopSci seminar to learn about UNC Lineberger’s Cancer Health Assets and Needs Assessment (CHANA) and how this new data resource can support your own research.
The CHANA initiative is a comprehensive, data-driven effort to better understand the cancer burden across all 100 North Carolina counties. It brings together multiple data sources – including state cancer registry data, multi-payer insurance claims and area-level contextual data – alongside surveys of the public, cancer survivors and key informants. This unique approach provides critical insights into cancer risk factors, healthcare access, patient needs and available resources.
The webinar will review how this resource can be useful for your work, including:
- Showcasing interactive CHANA dashboards and comprehensive report.
- Highlighting how CHANA data can support grant applications, publishable findings and research development.
- Demonstrating ways the findings can inform policies, interventions and resource allocation to reduce cancer disparities across North Carolina.
Presenters:
- Stephanie Wheeler, PhD, MPH, Michael O’Malley Distinguished Professor in health policy & management, UNC-Chapel Hill.
- Lisa Spees, PhD, assistant professor in the division of pharmaceutical outcomes & policy, Eshelman School of Pharmacy, UNC-Chapel Hill.
