American Urological Association 2017 Quality Improvement Summit on Stewardship of Imaging

October 21, 2017 @ 7:30 am - 3:30 pm

The Summit will welcome urologists, radiologists, and emergency department physicians, in addition to researchers, policy makers and others. UNC Lineberger’s Matt Nielsen, MD, MS, FACS, is the summit chair. Discussions day will focus on four primary goals:

1. Review experience of urologist-led stewardship of prostate cancer staging imaging, and define the problem.

2. Summarize and consolidate current data related to radiation exposure from medical imaging and strategies to reduce harms and costs associated with advanced imaging for urinary stone disease

3. Create a health services research and policy agenda that advances physician-led stewardship of advanced imaging across the relevant stakeholder communities of emergency medicine, radiology, and urology

4. Build a national interdisciplinary consortium to disseminate and implement health services research information and tools to improve quality and safety, and reduce costs associated with advanced imaging

During the Quality Improvement Summit, there will be ample opportunity for audience participation. The cost to attend the QI Summit is $25 per attendee. CME will be available. Following the event, a proceedings paper will be published.
