The UNC Lineberger Head & Neck Oncology Program delivers integrated care across Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Speech and Swallowing, Nutrition, and Pathology — bringing the right specialists together for each patient.

Conditions We Treat
Head & Neck Cancers
- Oral cavity (tongue, floor of mouth, gingiva)
- Oropharyngeal (tonsil, base of tongue, soft palate)
- Laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancers
- Salivary gland and parotid tumors
- Thyroid and parathyroid malignancies
- Neck metastases, including unknown primary
Skull Base & Sinonasal Tumors
- Malignancies of the nasal cavity, sinuses, orbit, anterior skull base
- Endoscopic and open craniofacial approaches
- Multidisciplinary care with neurosurgery and reconstruction
Advanced Skin Cancers
- Cutaneous squamous and basal cell carcinoma
- Melanoma and Merkel cell carcinoma
- Sentinel node biopsy, regional and local reconstruction
Rare & Orphan Tumors
- Anaplastic thyroid cancer
- NUT carcinoma
- Sarcoma, adenoid cystic carcinoma, and other rare malignancies
- Access to national cooperative trials (NRG, ECOG-ACRIN)

Location and Hours
The Head and Neck Oncology clinic is located on the 2nd floor of the Cancer Hospital.
The clinic is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Research & Clinical Trials
UNC Lineberger investigators lead innovative translational and clinical research programs, including immunotherapy and tumor microenvironment studies, neoadjuvant and biomarker‑driven trials (ctDNA, PD‑L1 imaging, AI‑assisted radiomics), and optimization studies through National Clinical Trials Network group and ECOG‑ACRIN.
