Luisa Escobar-Hoyos, MSc PhD, Assistant Professor, Yale School of Medicine  

Dr. Escobar-Hoyos obtained her master’s degree in Biomedical Sciences at the Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia. As a Fulbright Scholar, she completed her PhD studies at Stony Brook University with Dr. Kenneth Shroyer. She then completed her postdoctoral training at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where she was co-mentored by Drs. Steven Leach and Omar Abdel-Wahab. In 2020, Dr. Escobar-Hoyos joined the Department of Therapeutic Radiology at Yale as an Assistant Professor. Her research focuses on pancreatic and lung cancers, to understand how aberrant RNA splicing contributes to the maintenance, establishment, and impairment of the anti-tumor immune response. She is the recipient of an NCI Career Transition K99/R00 Award and the Damon Runyon-Rachleff Innovation Award.
