Please join the UNC Cancer Network for an online telehealth lecture with Claudio L. Battaglini, PhD, FACSM, and Bill Wood, MD. In this presentation, Dr. Wood and Dr. Battaglini will review the importance of physical function (also referred to as physical performance) in patients receiving treatment for cancer, followed by a review of the mechanisms and evidence base supporting the role of exercise in improving cancer outcomes. North Carolina faces a drug misuse problem that has strained police departments, hospitals and communities. More than 12,000 North Carolinians died from opioid-related overdoses from 1999-2016 and the numbers are rising. This epidemic and the unintended consequences of efforts to control this outbreak are leading to significant barriers for effective pain control for oncology patients. This conference will bring together national experts to discuss the current crisis and how cancer pain can be managed through the skillful application of pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.

UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer will be bringing providers from across the state together for our 10th Annual Coping with Cancer Symposium on Saturday, October 27th at the Carolina Inn in Chapel Hill, NC.
