Jason Merker, MD, PhD
Principal Investigator
Jason Merker is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine & Genetics. He is a member of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) and Cancer Genetics and Clinical Research Programs.
In addition to running a research group, Dr. Merker has multiple coordinated roles involving molecular oncology and precision medicine. He is Co-Chair of the UNC Health Molecular Tumor Board as well as Director of Molecular Oncology and an attending molecular pathologist at UNC Hospitals McLendon Clinical Laboratories. Within the LCCC, Dr. Merker is Director of Cancer Molecular Pathology, Co-Director of the Translational Genomics Laboratory, and Co-Chair of the Cancer Genetics Committee.
The Merker Laboratory is focused on translating novel molecular biomarkers into clinical oncology practice, with the overarching goal of improving the care and survival of patients with cancer.
