Football fans gave cancer “the boot” when the Tar Heels faced off with Boston College in Kenan Stadium

ZTA Sorority SistersOn Saturday, October 26, the Chapel Hill Fire Department, the Local 2580 Firefighters Association, and the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority conducted a “boot” drive at various gates of Kenan Stadium to raise funds for UNC Lineberger at the game against Boston College. The group also sold tee shirts and survival bracelet kits for the “Give Cancer the Boot” program. The Chapel Hill Fire Department also showed their support during the month of October by wearing pink shirts as a part of their uniform to signify their support and participation in the national “Pink Heals” effort to raise awareness of cancer and its impacts.

The whole Tar Heel community got on board with the cancer awareness game, many wearing pink attire to the game. The players wore pink shoe laces, socks, gloves, wrist bands and other accessories to complement their traditional Carolina blue uniforms. Even Ramses, the UNC mascot, went pink for the event, donning pink-painted horns. This is the first time in history that Ramses’ horns have been painted anything other than Carolina Blue.

A huge thank you for the tremendous “pink” support during Saturday’s game.
