UNC Lineberger’s Stanley M. Lemon, MD, professor in the UNC School of Medicine Division of Infectious Diseases and Department of Microbiology and Immunology, is co-editor of a book about hepatitis viruses that are transmitted via the fecal–oral route and may cause liver damage.

The book, “Enteric Hepatitis Viruses,” was published by Cold Spring Harbor Perspectives in Medicine and explores the molecular characteristics and life cycles of hepatitis A and E viruses, HAV and HEV, their interactions with the liver and immune system, the clinical manifestations of the infections they cause, and their transmission via contaminated food and water.
