Karyn Stitzenberg, MD, MPH, has been appointed to a four-year term on the North Carolina Advisory Committee on Cancer Coordination and Control.
Dr. Stitzenberg is an assistant professor of surgery, a member of UNC Lineberger Cancer Prevention and Control Program and a health services researcher.
The mission of the 35-member committee is to facilitate the reduction of cancer incidence and mortality in North Carolina and to enhance access to quality treatment and support services. The group is also developing a statewide inventory of cancer services and activities.
Dr. Stitzenberg’s surgical oncology focus is on melanoma and GI. Her research interests are in health services research, particularly in access to and organization of multidisciplinary oncology care, comparative effectiveness in oncology care, and oncology/surgical workforce issues.
