Several UNC Lineberger members recently published “Provider-Based Research Networks May Improve Early Access to Innovative Colon Cancer Treatment for African Americans Treated in the Community” in Cancer.

Authors include Dolly C. Penn, MD, MSCR; YunKyung Chang, PhD, MPH; Anne-Marie Meyer, PhD; Christina DeFilippo Mack, PhD, MSPH; Hanna K. Sanoff, MD, MPH; Karyn B. Stitzenberg, MD, MPH; and William R. Carpenter, PhD, MHA. The paper found that among older patients with stage III colon cancer, there is a differential impact of race on oxaliplatin receipt depending on clinical practice affiliation. Provider-Based Research Networks may facilitate early access to innovative treatment for African Americans with stage III colon cancer.
