UNC Lineberger’s Carmina G. Valle, PhD, MPH, presented findings from a study on the development of an mHealth intervention to promote physical activity in young adult cancer survivors at the International Society of Behavioral Nutrition and Physical Activity’s annual meeting in Hong Kong.

Valle, who is an assistant professor in the Department of Nutrition and Department of Health Behavior at the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, reported on the development and findings from usability and pilot testing of the intervention. The study was funded by a grant from the National Cancer Institute, and its co-authors included UNC Lineberger’s Deborah Tate, PhD, Karen Hatley, MPH, Brooke Nezami, PhD, MA, Molly Diamond, MPH, and Kristen Polzien, PhD.

Valle’s team intended to study the mHealth intervention in a larger randomized clinical trial later this year.
