Mark C. Weissler, MD, FACS, was elected vice-chair of the Board of Regents of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) during the organization’s 2012 Clinical Congress in Chicago on Sept 30.

Weissler is the Joseph P. Riddle Distinguished Professor of Otarlarngology/Head and Neck Surgery and Division Chief of Head and Neck Oncology at the University of North Carolina. He is also a member of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.

A graduate of Boston University School of Medicine, Weissler has worked as a professor with the UNC Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery since 1986. An active member of ACS, he has served on the ACS Board of Regents and as the chair of the ACS Committee on Ethics and the ACS Central Judiciary Committee. He has also recently been elected as a Director of the American Board of Otolaryngology.
