Dr. Angelique Whitehurst, assistant professor of pharmacology, was awarded a 2011 Innovative Research Grant from Stand Up to Cancer, the scientific partner of the American Association of Cancer Research.
She attended the September 7 television broadcast of “Stand Up to Cancer.”
She says, “I was honored to represent UNC Lineberger at the live SU2C telecast on September 7th. The event featured cancer survivor stories. It was incredibly touching to watch these individuals share their stories and also see them in person and actually stand with them in their fight against cancer. These individuals are fighting so hard for their lives and are seeing positive improvements based on the research funded by SU2C.”
Dr. Whitehurst is shown here with her husband, Dr. Jay Whitehurst, and US Olympic gold medalist Gabriella Douglas.
