Deborah Mayer, PhD, ANP-BC, AOCN, FAAN, is the director of cancer survivorship for UNC Lineberger and the Frances Hill Fox Distinguished Professor in the UNC School of Nursing.

Through Cancer Transitions, cancer survivors can learn about nutrition, exercise, coping with stress, and medical management from UNC Lineberger experts. Cancer Transitions is a program of the Cancer Support Community and LiveSTRONG.

“After treatment ends, survivors are often left wondering: ‘Now what?’ This program helps answer that question,” said Deborah Mayer, PhD, ANP-BC, AOCN, FAAN, director of cancer survivorship for UNC Lineberger and the Frances Hill Fox Distinguished Professor in the UNC School of Nursing. “It helps with the emotional transition, and helps survivors make sense of what they’ve been through, as well as map out what happens after treatment ends.”

Mayer said the workshop allows participants to connect with other survivors and to get their questions answered.

The workshops will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the SECU Family House at 123 Old Mason Farm Road in Chapel Hill, NC, on the following dates in 2020:

  • January 11
  • March 21
  • May 2
  • July 11
  • September 12
  • November 14

There is free parking and healthy snacks are offered. Workshop registration is required to attend a session.

Interested participants can also get information and pre-register at the Patient and Family Resource Center, located on the ground floor of the North Carolina Cancer Hospital at 101 Manning Street in Chapel Hill, NC.
