UNC Lineberger’s Andrew Moon, MD, MPH, assistant professor of medicine in the division of gastroenterology and hepatology, recently received two grants to advance his training in liver cancer research.

The American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases presented Moon with a Clinical, Translational and Outcomes Research Award, a two-year $200,000 grant, to support his research and training on the incorporation of patient preferences into treatment choices for liver cancer. He was one of two recipients of the national award.

Moon also received a $10,000 North American International Training Grant from the American College of Gastroenterology. This grant supports travel to Barcelona, Spain to receive training with Maria Reig, MD, PhD, and Ferran Torres, MD, PhD, from the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer and collaborate on a patient level data meta-analysis assessing the role of stereotactic body radiation therapy for hepatocellular carcinoma.
