UNC Lineberger’s Tracy Rose, MD, MPH, assistant professor of medicine in the division of hematology and oncology, received a National Cancer Institute K08 grant for her study “Selective histone deacetylase inhibition with entinostat to enhance the anti-tumor immune response to immune checkpoint inhibition in urothelial cancer.” This study uses a window of opportunity approach to investigate whether the addition of entinostat can make immune checkpoint inhibition more effective in patients with muscle-invasive urothelial cancer.

Rose focuses on the development of novel therapies and combination therapies for patients with urologic malignancies, including the design and implementation of clinical trials. She also studies the molecular alterations that contribute to the development of genitourinary cancers.
