Eric Strand, currently a student at the UNC School of Medicine, has quite a story to tell. The Green Beret medic -turned aspiring oncologist talked about second chances with attendees of the Lineberger Club Brunch and Basketball Game on Saturday, Feb. 20.

Over 200 UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center supporters gathered at the Carolina Club in Chapel Hill to hear the remarks of UNC Medical Student and cancer survivor Eric Strand.

“It is rare to find an individual who has done so many things, at a young age, and has managed to excel and progress in all of them,” said Joel Tepper, MD, Hector MacLean Distinguished Professor of Cancer Research.

“The maturity he showed in approaching his disease was, I believe, a reflection of both his amazing life experiences and his strength as an individual.”
