A diverse group of people with their hands stacked

The UNC Lineberger Equity Council, established in October, 2020, to help make UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center a more diverse, equitable and inclusive institution, is looking to add new members.

People from across the cancer center who are committed to bringing diversity, equity and inclusion to life are encouraged to nominate themselves or others to join the council.

Last spring, the original 32-member council gathered the input of the many constituencies and stakeholders at UNC Lineberger to create a prioritized list of recommendations to help implement focused, meaningful and measurable change.

The council has grown to 70 members, and it recently started Phase II of its work, which includes developing concrete steps to operationalize recommendations and create measures to track progress and to iterate over time. Caregivers, faculty, health care workers, patients, researchers, staff, students and trainees are invited to join the Equity Council and to participate in one of the following implementation committees:

  • Dismantle Ineffective Systems
  • Research with an Equity Lens
  • The Training of Culture
  • Care Communication

People who are interested in joining the Equity Council or would like to nominate someone to serve are encouraged to complete the online nomination form by Feb. 4.
