UNC home to one of the largest numbers of highly cited experts, ranked 22nd worldwide
Fifteen UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center members were named as 2021 Highly Cited Researchers by Clarivate for publishing some of the most influential scientific papers during the past decade. The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill — with 41 faculty members named to the list, including those from the cancer center — was ranked 22nd worldwide for the most highly cited faculty.
Researchers earned the designation by publishing multiple highly-cited papers that ranked in the top 1% by citations for field and year. Fewer than 6,600 researchers worldwide, or .1 percent of all researchers, were recognized in 2021.
