UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center members took center stage during the Carolina Hurricanes’ annual Hockey Fight Cancer awareness game on Sunday, Nov.17, which was presented by UNC Health.
H.J. Kim, MD, the Ted B. Seagroves Jr. Distinguished Professor and chief of surgical oncology, was honored as the Hero of the Game for his dedication to cancer care and research.
Robert Ferris, MD, PhD, UNC Lineberger’s executive director and system chief of oncology services at UNC Health, helped energize the crowd as one of the game’s siren sounders. Ferris enthusiastically cranked the hurricane warning siren, a cherished tradition that fires up fans before a period starts.
Hockey Fights Cancer, launched by the NHL in 1998, raises funds to support cancer research and care while honoring cancer patients, survivors and those who treat and research cancer.
