UNC Lineberger researchers J. Mauro Calabrese and Kevin M. Weeks were co-corresponding authors of a paper published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
The paper, “SHAPE reveals transcript-wide interactions, complex structural domains, and protein interactions across the 8IST lncRNA in living cells,” explored the function of a certain non-coding section of RNA called that’s essential for X-chromosome inactivation during female eutherian mammalian development.
