William Wood, MD, MPH, UNC Lineberger member and associate professor in the UNC School of Medicine, has been named co-chair of the Health Services and International Studies Working Committee of the Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research.

Wood will assume the appointment March 1.

The center is a research collaboration between the National Marrow Donor Program/Be The Match, and the Medical College of Wisconsin, according to the organization’s website https://www.cibmtr.org/.

The center facilitates observational and interventional research through scientific and statistical expertise, a network of transplant centers, and a clinical outcomes database including more than 425,000 patients.

The Health Services and International Studies Working Committee provides scientific oversight for studies related to social and economic barriers to access to hematopoietic cell transplantation, as well as studies addressing regional differences in transplantation practice.
