Dr. Matt Nielsen, Associate Professor and Director of Urologic Oncology, was invited to give a plenary presentation at this year’s American Urological Association national meeting in New Orleans. Entitled Optimizing Survivorship and Decision Making in Low Risk Bladder Cancer, Dr. Nielsen presented his ongoing work evaluating alternative approaches to the management of the historically understudied—though large and growing—subgroup of patients diagnosed with lower risk bladder cancer. This international multidisciplinary work, supported by grants from UNC Lineberger, the American Cancer Society and the National Cancer Institute, was recognized by the Urology Care Foundation/Astellas Rising Stars in Urology Research Award.
