The increased spread of misinformation has hampered public health practice, contributing to the erosion of public trust in science, in addition to threatening both individual and community health and well-being. To effectively mitigate the harms caused by misinformation, multidisciplinary social and behavioral science is needed. NCI Program Director Dr. Chou will provide an overview of existing research on health misinformation that is relevant to cancer prevention and control, identify promising approaches and collaborative opportunities to understand and adapt to the evolving social and communication landscape, and discuss the NIH’s interests in supporting cutting-edge health communication science for diverse populations.

The Cancer Outcomes Research Program Breakfast Seminar Series is organized by Drs. Ethan Basch and Stephanie Wheeler. Please arrive at 7:45am to join us for a hot breakfast buffet prior to the start of our 8:00am meeting. Parking is available at the Rams Head parking deck next door; we will give you vouchers to park for free.
