Wendy Brewster MD PhD is a practicing gynecological oncologist and Director of the Center of Women’s Health Research at UNC. Her own research identifies and evaluates populations at risk for disparate treatment and poor outcomes in endometrial, colon, ovarian, and cervical cancers. She has led studies that examine how the standard of medical care impacts outcomes of cervical patients, successfully demonstrating that single- visit treatments overcome some risks in treating high risk populations. Dr. Brewster collaborates with many members of the UNC Cancer Outcomes program, including Stephanie Wheeler, Chris Baggett, and Lisa Spees, on projects that examine the relationship between distance and the receipt of care for rural and urban cervical cancer patients. She also serves with Ethan Basch in the School of Medicine’s Office of Inclusive Excellence, which leads efforts to build and maintain a diverse faculty and inclusive environment at UNC. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling internationally and attending the theater.
