Addison, a student at Duke School, had a clear direction for her final 8th grade project…making a difference in the lives of families dealing with cancer.  Her goal was to raise money for the Comprehensive Cancer Support Program’s Milk Buddy Program, a program that offers free cases of high calorie, high protein nutrition supplement to patients in need at the N.C. Cancer Hospital.

Addison first learned about this program when her father was undergoing cancer treatment at the N.C. Cancer Hospital.  After preparing an informative presentation about this worthy cause, Addie went out into the community and bravely shared her own story of the loss of her father and how the nutrition supplement program supported him and others who are unable to eat well while receiving cancer treatment.  She drew courage from her father’s strength and united her community in support.  The tremendous result is a tribute to James Mansfield AND his incredible daughter, Addison Mansfield.
