Area of interest

Yuchao Jiang has conducted research in developing statistical methods and computational algorithms to: (i) detect germline and somatic copy number variation and estimate allele-specific copy number by next-generation sequencing under various experimental designs with and without negative controls; (ii) assess intratumor heterogeneity and reconstruct tumor phylogeny by multi-regional and/or longitudinal DNA sequencing of bulk tumor specimens; and (iii) model allele-specific gene expression and characterize allele-specific bursting by single-cell RNA sequencing with adjustment of technical variability. While his research is focused on method development, he has also worked closely with biologists, geneticists, and oncologists and applied statistical methods to large-scale cohort studies of human health and diseases to better utilize and analyze different types of next-generation sequencing data.
