Area of Interest

The laboratory continues to focus on the regulation and biological functions of the transcription factor NF-kB and on the role of NF-kB in disease, with a particular emphasis on cancer and cancer therapy. These studies focus on the signaling pathways which target NF-kB, on the biological mechanisms which NF-kB controls, and on the ability of NF-kB to promote basic oncogenic mechanisms as well as resistance to cancer therapy.

Awards and Honors

1. NF-kB and control of cell growth and suppression of differentiation.
2. Role of oncoprotein Bcl-3 in cell growth and oncoenesis.
3. Oncoprotein signaling and NF-kB: Ras- and BCR-ABL-induced pathways and NF-kB.
4. NF-kB and suppression of apoptosis: new therapeutic approaches for cancer therapy.
5. NF-kB and chromatin: novel findings regarding the involvement of IKK in controlling chromatin/histone modification.
