The Wendy Brewster Act of Kindness Award

Wendy Brewster, MD, PhD, was an amazing mentor and colleague to all employees in the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center and the School of Medicine. She dedicated herself to building an inclusive workplace and developed cancer programs that defined excellence for the Center.

Dr. Brewster led efforts that contributed to meaningful change. To uphold the efforts that Dr. Brewster worked tirelessly to implement, UNC Lineberger is honoring her legacy by establishing this award.

The Wendy Brewster Act of Kindness Award is an award designed to recognize individuals who have showcased acts of kindness that are centered around teamwork, participation, encouragement, mentorship, and building bridges to help others work together collectively.

Award Information

  • Submissions will need to highlight these efforts in detail and should be at least one paragraph in length
  • Frequency: Twice a year, an award given to one staff member each cycle
  • Nominations accepted in April (spring cycle) and August (fall cycle)
  • Winner Announced in June (spring cycle) and October (fall cycle)
  • Prize: SEAC monetary prize of $250 gift card; recipient recognized at symposiums; recognition in UNC Lineberger communications (i.e., internal newsletters)

Deadline: The submission portal will close on August 31.

Upon successful form submission, an on-page confirmation message will show. You will receive an email copy of your nomination. If you don’t see these confirmations, your submission did not go through.

Note: These staff awards are only for employees of UNC Lineberger.

Nominations for this award closed on August 31, 2024. The next nomination cycle for this award will open spring 2025.
