Elizabeth Stewart of Pender County and her supporters delivered more than 3,300 hats, blankets, socks, scarves and other items for cancer patients at the N.C. Cancer Hospital, UNC Lineberger’s clinical home, on Nov. 9 as part of Hats for Hope, the Annual Charli’ Ramsey Hat Drive.

Cancer drug parity laws lower costs for many, but not everyone

In an analysis of the impact of parity laws published in JAMA Oncology, UNC Lineberger researchers led by Stacie Dusetzina, PhD, and collaborators from Harvard Medical School report modest improvements in costs for many patients. However, patients who were already paying the most for their medications, saw their monthly costs go up.

Lineberger members co-author TCGA Network study of adult soft tissue sarcoma

UNC Lineberger members from a range of departments in the UNC School of Medicine were co-authors of a paper published in the journal Cell on Nov. 2. For the study, by The Cancer Genome Atlas Network, researchers characterized molecular alterations in 206 adult soft tissue sarcomas. They studied six major types of sarcoma, and found a wide range of oncogenic drivers.
