UNC Lineberger and NCCU invites NCCU students who self-identify as Black/African-American, Hispanic/Latinx, Native American/Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander to participate in a ten-week summer internship program that provides education and first-hand experience in the broadness of cancer and oncology careers.

  • This program will take place over two summers with mentoring activities and courageous dialogues taking place during the school year in between summers.
  • The internship will have both virtual and in-person opportunities.
  • The program is designed for rising sophomores and junior STEM majors at NCCU.
  • U.S. citizens and permanent residents and international students who are matriculated at NCCU may apply.

The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center is a cancer research and treatment center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Serving patients at the N.C. Cancer Hospital, UNC Lineberger is the only public comprehensive cancer center in the state of North Carolina.

This summer internship provides the opportunity for experiential and didactic learning in clinical research and oncology careers through division meetings, journal clubs, webinars, guest presentations, and shadowing opportunities. Interns will complete a summer capstone project under the supervision of their summer mentor(s).
