Bernard Weissman, PhD, is director of the Developmental Research Program and co-leads the Biospecimens Core, particularly in the generation of racially-diverse PDX models of endometrial cancer. He brings extensive experience in grant evaluation and program leadership to UNC TREND.

Weissman was a regular member of these separate NCI study sections:

  1. For reviews of training grant and research transition awards (NCI-F) from 1993-2000 and served as its chair from 1999-2000.
  2. For reviews of program project grant applications in basic science (NCI-D) from 2001-2004.
  3. Two CSR IRGs- Oral Biology and Medicine-one from 1998-2000 and one for Cancer Genetics from 2010-2012 and as Chair from 2012-2014.

He served on the Wake Forest University – NC Agricultural and Technological University P20 Advisory Board. He served as Associate Director of the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center Postdoctoral Training Program from 1993-2015, and currently serves as the PI/Director of the UNC Lineberger Postdoctoral Training Program in Cancer Epigenetics and as the Director of Postdoctoral Studies for the Curriculum in Toxicology.
