CCSP/Palliative Care Grand Rounds

 

Welcome to CCSP/Palliative Care Grand Rounds

The Palliative Care and Comprehensive Cancer Support Programs (CCSP) co-organize weekly presentations on the care of seriously ill patients and their families, including individuals living with cancer, relevant to interdisciplinary clinicians. Individual topics address pain and symptom management, communication approaches with patients and families, strategies to facilitate coping and support, quality improvement and research in these disciplines.

BIO:
Dr. Jennifer Temel is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Director of the Cancer Outcomes Research Program at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) Cancer Center. She is a thoracic oncologist and serves as the Clinical Director of the Thoracic Oncology Program at MGH. She has received funding from the National Cancer Institute, the National Institute of Nursing Research, the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute, and the American Cancer Society to study novel methods of improving the care of patients with cancer and their family members. She has developed a thriving research program focused on optimizing palliative and supportive care for patients with cancer and their families. Dr. Temel is also invested in training the next generation of clinical investigators and serves as the co-Principal Investigator on two National Cancer Institute grants to train and support junior faculty pursuing research careers. She is the recipient of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine Award for Excellence in Scientific Research, the American Cancer Society Pathfinder Award, the American Psychosocial Oncology Society Award for Outstanding Education and Training, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology Walther Cancer Foundation Palliative and Supportive Care in Oncology Award. Dr. Temel was recently named an American Cancer Society Clinical Research Professor for her research in palliative and supportive care.
