CCSP/Palliative Care Grand Rounds

 

Welcome to CCSP/Palliative Care Grand Rounds

The Palliative Care and Comprehensive Cancer Support Programs (CCSP) co-organize weekly presentations on the care of seriously ill patients and their families, including individuals living with cancer, relevant to interdisciplinary clinicians. Individual topics address pain and symptom management, communication approaches with patients and families, strategies to facilitate coping and support, quality improvement and research in these disciplines.

New Horizons: Expanding the Therapeutic Scope of Collaborative Care Beyond Primary Care

Bio:
Christine Beran is a current consultation-liaison fellow who has a special interest in the collaborative care model and increasing access to mental healthcare within this model. She has experience as a psychiatric consultant within this model both at UNC Family Medicine and within the Inflammatory Bowel Disease clinic. She is currently working with Donald Rosenstein and Nate Sowa to pilot the model for patients with breast cancer.

Mark “Brandon” Goodman (he/him/his) is a current Consultation Liaison (CL) Psychiatry Fellow at UNC. He completed his general psychiatry residency at UNC, where he served as the Outpatient Chief Resident in his final year. His professional interests are in novel service models in CL. He is currently working to complete pilot both a proactive consultation model at UNC as well as an integrated Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)-based psychotherapy training model within CL psychiatry, both of which he initiated during his fellowship year. He is excited to start his role in the UNC CL Psychiatry faculty starting in July 2021.
