Palliative Care: Yoga & Mindfulness for People with Serious Health Conditions

Welcome to CCSP/Palliative Care Grand Rounds
The Palliative Care and Comprehensive Cancer Support Programs (CCSP) co-organize weekly presentations on the care of seriously ill patients and their families, including individuals living with cancer, relevant to interdisciplinary clinicians. Individual topics address pain and symptom management, communication approaches with patients and families, strategies to facilitate coping and support, quality improvement and research in these disciplines.
Yoga Therapy During Cancer Treatment and at the End of Life
Doreen currently maintains a private practice and works as a yoga therapist for Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, UNC Chapel Hill, a position she has held for the past 11 years. Her past experience includes working for Cornucopia Cancer Support Program for 10 years; as a board member and yoga therapist for New Life After Cancer; writing articles on yoga and cancer; speaking at state-wide survivorship conferences, and contributing to an upcoming book on yoga across the cancer continuum which is due to be published in 2021. She is a member of, and certified by, the International Association of Yoga Therapists, and is a member of the Society for Integrative Oncology for which she is the Co-Chair of the yoga committee’s peer support group.
The School of Medicine of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
