Medical and Surgical Oncology Lecture– Using Biomarkers to Plan Adjuvant Therapy in Breast Cancer

Please join the UNC Cancer Network for an online telehealth lecture with Lisa Carey, MD. Dr. Carey will discuss the anatomic and genomic variables that impact on (neo)adjuvant decision-making in breast cancer and the current treatment algorithms that allow rational escalation and de-escalation of systemic therapy. Medical and Surgical Oncology lectures offer FREE CNE, ASRT, and CME continuing education credit (upon approval) for eligible participants. We invite anyone interested to view our lectures. Lectures are viewable online via Zoom Webinar or by participating in the lecture at one of our designated viewing sites. Please contact us for more information about Zoom Webinar registration or to be connected with a site coordinator near you.

UNCCN Presents an MS Lecture

Using Biomarkers to Plan Adjuvant Therapy in Breast Cancer

Dr. Carey will discuss the anatomic and genomic variables that impact on (neo)adjuvant decision-making in breast cancer and the current treatment algorithms that allow rational escalation and de-escalation of systemic therapy.

Lecture Objectives:

  • Understand the roles of stage, hormone receptors, and biologic assays in determining systemic treatment and outcome.

  • Recognize the features that make a tumor more appropriate for neoadjuvant systemic therapy and the implications of this approach to therapy.

  • Determine the optimal regimens for triple negative, hormone receptor-positive, and HER2-positive breast cancer.
