Dr. M. Charlot (L.), Dr. S. Patel (R.)

Dr. Marjory Charlot joins UNC from Boston Medical Center/Boston University School of Medicine where she completed her residency and fellowship training and was on faculty as an Assistant Professor of Medicine. Her clinical expertise is in lung cancer and her research focuses on disparities in cancer outcomes and patient engagement in cancer care. She is excited to join UNC’s outstanding clinicians and researchers in the thoracic oncology program and cancer outcomes research program. In the coming years Dr. Charlot hopes to provide exceptional patient care and further advance the field of cancer disparities and health equity research through patient and community partnerships.

Dr. Shetal Patel recently completed fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Patel is a native of Virginia and also attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania, where she obtained her M.D. and Ph.D. Dr. Patel’s clinical focus will be treating patients with thoracic and head/neck malignancies. Her research focus will be developing translational studies and clinical trials to improve treatment options for these patients. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, cooking, and being outdoors.
