Resilience: A Double-Edged Sword

Bio:

Devin (he/him) is currently a fellow in UNC’s Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry Fellowship. He is a native Texan and grew up in Dallas, Texas. He went to college at the University of Texas (HOOK ‘EM HORNS!), where his biggest flex was attending National Championship football game his freshman year as a member of the Longhorn Band. After college, he moved to the sprawling metropolis of Houston, TX to attend medical school at the University of Texas Health Science Center. He then made the blasphemous decision to move out of Texas to complete his residency in General Psychiatry at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, where he eventually became the chief resident of the CL service his 4th year. During his training, Devin became interested several areas of CL psychiatry and more broadly, topics related to resilience, diversity, health of gender and sexual minorities, narrative medicine, and psychiatric education. After completion of his fellowship (in about 5 weeks!), he will be moving back to Nashville, where he will work in both the inpatient and outpatient CL settings, as well as continued work on initiatives related to DEI at Vandy.
