Welcome to CCSP/Palliative Care Grand Rounds
The Palliative Care and Comprehensive Cancer Support Programs (CCSP) co-organize weekly presentations on the care of seriously ill patients and their families, including individuals living with cancer, relevant to interdisciplinary clinicians. Individual topics address pain and symptom management, communication approaches with patients and families, strategies to facilitate coping and support, quality improvement and research in these disciplines.
Dr. Steven Prakken
Using Buprenorphine in Pain, Why and How
Dr. Steven Prakken specializes in the comprehensive treatment of complex pain patients diagnosed with multiple physical and psychiatric conditions. His primary focus is the treatment of pain patients with comorbid disorders of mood, personality, and substance abuse. Dr. Prakken provides trainings in multidisciplinary management of High Utilizing Pain populations. His other teaching and research interests include clinical, cultural, and population dynamics related to the treatment of chronic non-cancer pain, and the neurophysiologic relationship of disease states in pain and psychiatry.
The School of Medicine of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
