Welcome to CCSP/Palliative Care Grand Rounds
The Palliative Care and Comprehensive Cancer Support Programs (CCSP) co-organize weekly presentations on the care of seriously ill patients and their families, including individuals living with cancer, relevant to interdisciplinary clinicians. Individual topics address pain and symptom management, communication approaches with patients and families, strategies to facilitate coping and support, quality improvement and research in these disciplines.

George Clement, MD
The Long Goodbye: Supporting Patients with Dementia and Their Caregivers
Bio:
George lives in Pittsboro, NC with his wife, daughter, dogs, cats, fish, and a lizard. He enjoys connecting with friends, hiking, canoeing, gardening, exercising, and reading. After fellowship, he plans to pursue a career in academic medicine practicing primary care geriatrics and multi-setting palliative care.
George grew up outside Philadelphia and went to college in central New York where he met his wife. After college, he returned to Philadelphia and worked in a developmental neuroscience lab for two years then medical school at Thomas Jefferson University. He completed Family Practice residency at Womack Army Medical Center in Fort Liberty, NC. He then served four years supporting special operations forces at Fort Liberty, completing his Army service as a Major. He completed Geriatric Medicine fellowship at UNC in 2024 before starting Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship.
