Intended audience: UNC faculty, staff and students who have a basic knowledge of Zoom and would like to learn about more advanced features.

Topics Covered Will Include:

  • The difference between Zoom Meetings and Zoom Webinar and when to use each.
  • How do I ensure that my Zoom meeting is secure?
  • How to use application preferences to make the most of your meetings.
  • How to use Zoom settings to make Zoom work for you.
  • How to set up Zoom so that I may schedule on someone else’s behalf, as I do with Outlook?
  • Can I use my Zoom account to discuss PHI?
  • Answers to many/all of the questions submitted below.

  16. The “Require meeting password” automatically is checked when I schedule a meeting. How do I remove the automatic check so I don’t have to uncheck it every time I schedule a zoom meeting?
  17. During a meeting, I get chat requests to invite others. I open Contacts and quickly send them the links, but how do I send an external contact while still in Zoom? I usually have to stop paying attention and open my email to send the link for them to participate.
  18. I had a participant use Keynote instead of PowerPoint to present, their mouse was not showing as a pointer. I quickly Googled the issue and informed the presenter what to change under Keynote preference. Do you know of other apps through user inquires, troubleshoot history, or FAQ that arises from researchers?
  19. If you have recurring meetings every week, instead of a different zoom link for each meeting, can you create one that works for all the recurring meetings?
  20. Does the host have to stay the whole meeting? Does the host have to always start the meeting?
  21. Why should I download the Zoom application and Outlook plugin.
