Oliver Marth at CPR Training
UNCLCN’s Oliver Marth Taking a CPR/AED Class

Dear UNC Lineberger Cancer Network Friend,

Spring certainly appears to have arrived early. I know that many of us were surprised to find a thin dusting of pine pollen on our windshields in the final days of February. Heck, who needs to wait until April!!!

The photo for this article is of my UNCLCN colleague, Oliver Marth, taking a CPR/AED course recently offered on the UNC campus by the American Red Cross. Members of our team joined others from the Lineberger Community Outreach and Engagement group for this course. Just one week later, another member of our team, Andrew Dodgson (who also took the course) was in Maryland attending the 2023 Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions conference and was able to put the first two of the three Cs (Check, Call, Care) into practice when he was first on the scene of a medical emergency. I think we all came away with a better appreciation of how relevant it can be to keep our first aid skills updated.

I encourage everyone to keep your fist aid skills up to date, and to know where the nearest AED is located. For those at UNC, you may appreciate this recent article that includes a map to all AEDs that can be found on the UNC campus.
