What Is Poll Everywhere?

Poll Everywhere is software that permits presenters to interact with their audience within their PowerPoint, Keynote, or Google Slides presentations.

How Does UNCLCN Use Poll Everywhere?

We start the lecture with an easy Poll Everywhere question in order to get attendees into that software application.

Once in Poll Everywhere, attendees can use Poll Everywhere to respond to prompts or to ask their own questions. We add slides to your presentation that will permit these questions to appear on the screen, so that everyone can see the question and how attendees are responding.

How Do I Incorporate Poll Everywhere into My Presentation?

The easiest way would be to do the following:

  • Create placeholder slides in those places where you want to have a poll question
  • On these slides, put the word “Poll” followed by your question

When we receive your presentation file, we will go through it and replace those placeholder slides with active Poll Everywhere slides.

Active Learning and Poll Everywhere

Our accreditation agencies are now requesting greater Active Learning elements with our presentations. What this means is that attendees need to show that they are learning from the lecture.

Active Learning is most easily incorporated by asking attendees about each of the presentations Learning Objectives. At the end of each section of your presentation, add a slide that asks the audience what they have learned about that particular learning objective.

Of course, we encourage you to add other Poll Everywhere slides to your presentation as well. These can be used to test the audience’s knowledge of a subject before discussing it or to see what the attendees’ experience is like.
