How to Remotely Join a Tumor Board
Tumor boards at UNC may only be attended by those health care practitioners directly involved with the treatment of those patients being discussed. All tumor board correspondence, including the distribution of invitations to tumor boards, is handled by tumor board coordinators. Please contact the relevant tumor board coordinator if you need information about a specific tumor board.
For the indefinite future, we will not be connecting conference rooms in the in the NC Cancer Hospital to tumor boards. Tumor boards will take place via Zoom, and all connections will be made using Lineberger’s PHI approved Zoom license.
It is recommended that you download the Zoom application (Zoom Client for Meetings). It is available at: https://zoom.us/download.
The UNC Lineberger Cancer Network is obligated to take appropriate steps to ensure the privacy of patients being discussed during tumor boards. It is for this reason that we require every tumor board participant to register for every tumor board.
After a participant registers for a tumor board, she or he receives an email with a link to the tumor board, along with detailed instructions. In the event that the participant registers after the tumor board has started, the participant will be immediately directed into the tumor board. If the participant prefers to participate via a smart phone, there are free Zoom apps available for Apple and Android phones. Please note that we do not allow participants to join anonymously, as this would jeopardize patient privacy. Similarly, we do not distribute tumor board number/password combinations that would bypass the registration process.
If you have technical support questions regarding tumor board participation at the NC Cancer Hospital, please direct them to the UNC Lineberger Cancer Network via email at email@example.com or by phone at 919-445-1000. More details regarding Zoom may be found at: www.unccn.org/zoom.
