A UNC Lineberger Cancer Network Monitored Tumor Board.
The hepatobiliary tumor board is held on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th (if applicable) Wednesdays of the month from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm. Attendees include representatives from hepatology, abdominal/transplant surgery, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, radiology, and oncology. The meeting is also open to nurse coordinators, mid-level providers, GME trainees, and medical students. Patients with known or suspected hepatobiliary lesions, both benign and malignant, are reviewed in a comprehensive and multidisciplinary fashion. Care plans are developed using national guidelines (when appropriate) or the highest level of clinical data that is available to help direct therapy. Patients are then referred to the appropriate specialty (or multiple specialties) for subsequent workup and/or treatment. Patients are also reviewed for potential enrollment into clinical trials for oncology and referred if appropriate.
