Karen was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Salem College before obtaining her PhD at Bowman Grey School of Medicine at Wake Forest University in the department of Microbiology and Immunology. She is our lab problem solver and helps to translate the needs of clinical studies into what can be done practically and efficiently.
She is driven by a passion for science in which “the truth is continuously revealed.” She is fascinated at looking at the same problems from different angles to increase what we can learn from it.
When not at work she enjoys horseback riding, gardening and walking her dogs along the Eno River. She is also on the Board of the Transgeneral Conference, the Quaker organizing assembly for the United States.
