Top postdoctoral abstracts will be selected to give a talk. Additional postdoctoral abstracts and graduate student abstracts will be selected to showcase diverse research through a poster session. Awards will be given for the best poster presentations. Postdoctoral Awards will be $200 for first place, $150 for second place and $100 for third place. The best graduate student poster will be awarded $100. In previous years the poster session has been a great success, stimulating scientific discussion among postdocs, faculty, and students.
Invited Speakers
Katherine Fries, PhD
Deputy Director, Sanofi Pasteur
Dr. Fries was formally a graduate student and postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Nancy Raab-Traub, PhD at the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. In 2004, Dr. Fries joined Sanofi Pasteur, and is currently a Deputy Director in the department of Global Clinical Immunology. Her focus is the development and validation of new methods to assess the immune response following vaccination.
Jennifer Gerton, PhD
Investigator, Stowers Institue for Medical Research
Dr. Gerton conducted undergraduate and graduate studies at Stanford University, where she studied how retrovirus integrate into host genomes. Her interest in DNA recombination led to postdoctoral training with Dr. Tom Petes at University of North Carolina. Since starting her own research lab at the Stowers Institute in Kansas City, she has continued to study genome stability and propagation.
