Despite improvements in breast cancer detection and treatment, racial disparities in breast cancer outcomes persist. In the United States, particularly the southeastern region, Black women are more likely to experience breast cancer-related mortality than any other race or ethnic group—regardless of subtype, age, or socioeconomic status. This research leverages Georgia Cancer Registry data and a network of national and local data streams to understand how area level characteristics contribute to race differences in breast cancer-specific mortality.

The Cancer Outcomes Research Program Breakfast Seminar Series is organized by Drs. Ethan Basch and Stephanie Wheeler. Please arrive at 7:45am to join us for a hot breakfast buffet prior to the start of our 8:00am meeting. Parking is available at the Rams Head parking deck next door; we will give you vouchers to park for free.
