Epidemiology beyond its limits: leveraging surveillance data to examine the role of area-level characteristics in breast cancer outcome disparities
Meeting ID: 963 4022 2756
Despite improvements in breast cancer detection and treatment, racial disparities in breast cancer outcomes persist. In the United States, particularly the southeastern region, Black women are more likely to experience breast cancer-related mortality than any other race or ethnic group—regardless of subtype, age, or socioeconomic status. This research leverages Georgia Cancer Registry data and a network of national and local data streams to understand how area level characteristics contribute to race differences in breast cancer-specific mortality.
The Cancer Outcomes Research Program Breakfast Seminar Series is organized by Drs. Ethan Basch and Stephanie Wheeler.
